Modulation Pedal Mods
Whether you are looking to upgrade your effects functionality, alter it’s tonal characteristics, add-on some features or create a whole new monster, we can help you get the tone you’re looking for. If the mod you need isn’t covered below, please choose “other” on the form and describe it to us.
Functional Upgrades
Improving Existing Knobs & Switches
Range Extender
This mod extends the range of the knobs currently on your pedal. Some phasers sweep too quickly at their slowest rates to achieve the subtle textures and movement that you may be looking for. Other modulation effects can darken or brighten your tone more than you care for, in which case we could apply this concept to a tone control (or whatever other control you want to stretch the capabilities of).
Quality Enhancer
If you turn a knob on your effect and it feels like its power steering has cut out, it might be time to replace it with a fresh pot for a smoother rotation. We can also substitute the standard 3PDT stomp switch that you find in most pedals with a relay bypass board and a soft-touch momentary switch, eliminating any pops and clicks from your switching system.
Re-Voicing
Adjusting Tonal Characteristics
Tone Capacitors
While guitarists can often boast that their modulation pedal features a wide-open frequency response that does not have an audible impact on their dry signal, bassists know that is not always the case. If you’re a low-end lover who likes to hang out below 100Hz but your modulation pedal cuts you off too early, we can strategically swap out a few capacitors to allow your instruments full range to shine through.
Voicing Additions
Expanding Creative Capabilities
Knob Installs
Provided there’s enough room in the enclosure, we can install a couple knobs to increase the control you have over your modulation pedal. Some suggestions are a wet/dry mix knob, a feedback knob, or a bias knob, however the options are limitless.
Switch Installs
A lot of fun things can be accomplished with the help of switches. They can be the perfect way to keep your stock tone in tact while experimenting with different voices. A few ideas include a feedback switch (similar to a script/block switch on a Phase 90), a rate switch that adjusts the range of your rate knob from super slow to ultra fast, or if you want to get weird we can circuit bend your modulation pedal to create crazy oscillation sounds with the flick of a switch.
Re-Modeling
Upgrading Sonic Signatures
Audio Overhaul
No matter how attractive a pedal is, we can all (mostly) agree that it’s what’s on the inside that counts. But what monster could waste a precious piece of pedal art? Send your favourite pedal enclosures that house your least favourite circuits our way and we’ll try our absolute best to do the artwork justice with some wicked new circuitry. If you’re unsure what sound you want out of it we’ll be glad to surprise you ;)
Re-Housing
Revamping Stock Enclosures
Circuit Transplant
Retain the heart and soul of your physically worn-down vintage effects by transplanting their circuitry to a more durable enclosure, or show your favourite cheap effects some love by moving them into a fancy new house! Some manufacturers choose to sacrifice enclosure durability by using cheap materials to reduce their costs, so re-housing can be a great way to protect these circuits for a long time to come. Don’t underestimate the inspiration that looking down at a beautiful custom pedal can provide as well! We offer a selection of finishes to choose from such as a base layer of powder-coat with a UV printed control layout, or something a little more adventurous like an acid-etched or hand painted graphic of your choice.
